3 Vintage Tea Towels with a Mid-Century Flair

I love searching for treasures at the yard sales and flea markets.
Sometimes I come across something that ties together all my passions. These three tea towels do it. I remember seeing these in kitchens all over my neighborhood as a girl. The are just lovely.

And if you collect these gems—you can find them on my vintage Etsy shop FallenFeatherVintage.

The Joy in James Corden's Car

James Corden reminds us that the truest success comes from JOY.

Have you seen any of his Carpool Karaoke videos

I swear they are SO fun to watch that I'll watch some of them several times just to experience it. That JOY I heard James reference in an NPR interview this afternoon. He explained that he believes these videos have blown up on the internet because there is real joy in that car for both James and the celebrity passenger. People love to see pure joy. And they will share it and they will come back for more.

Here is everyone's favorite car ride:

Not only do viewers love it—the celebrities all want to experience this carpool karaoke with James Corden! He says they are all wanting to do it! And he is SO happy to oblige. It's a dream come true for James, who has always wanted to perform—he is living his dream in the car and on stage with his network show, "The Late Late Show" on CBS.

So— Why am I sharing this!?  WELL, it reminded me of Lilla Roger's motto that "People Buy Your Joy!" And I thought—t's true for EVERYTHING. Even if people aren't actually "buying" something, they are paying with their time, attention, and love to experience the JOY you are offering up.

This lesson can apply in all walks of life. Me, with my artwork—even on my blog in what I write about and share. My kids should remember it at school everyday—people don't want to be around a sourpuss—an unhappy, sad face. They are attracted to a JOYFUL spirit!

And we can all use a little dose of it—everyday.

Here's to JOY!
Thanks James!

Mounted Prints on Little Wood Blocks

I found these great little blocks with a drilled place in the back for hanging. They are also small enough to sit on a desk or shelf. Stick one in an envelope and send it off to a friend for a lovely surprise gift.

A 4"x4" block for $16.

Daily Encouragement for your Walls

It's been fun choosing special verses to play with typographic designs. I love working with typography. I can make the words sing. In this scripture series I choose the font and the weight and the size to communicate each word so that you can see the rhythm and emotion. These are verses that can encourage you on those difficult days. We all have them. When you see them everyday, they become a mantra for your life.

Here are a few. See more on the shop.

Happy New Year! 2016. No Regrets.

No Regrets by Leila Davis
"No Regrets, Memories of a Kentucky War Bride" By Leila Davis.
Designed by Kim Moulder. Edited by Kim Moulder and Suzanne Gallagher.

New Year's Day I released the final version of a book I've been working on for quite a while. My husband's grandma, Leila Davis has been wanting to publish a book sharing memories of her life as a Kentucky war bride for years.

We used her journals and writings about memories of war and expatriation and combined those with memories from family and friends, family photos, and a section highlighting her favorite recipes. In the end we have successfully put together a book her family will treasure forever.

Our hope is that it will be passed down through the generations and that those who come across it will find life lessons among it's pages.

If you'd like to see the book find a portion of it here on Blurb.com.

Would You Like Woodblock Prints — Ready to Hang?

I've been thinking about making these small woodblock prints to offer on my Etsy shop, FlitandFly. I think that they are really simple, modern and instantly ready to hang. They would be a great gift—and easy too! The price point would be a bit higher than a print, due to the additional production time on this end, but it might be worth it to not have to find a frame and also the aesthetic might work better on many levels for some people.
